Here at Goodosphere HQ we have much respect for Bill Watterson and the integrity with which he’s managed his creation, Calvin & Hobbes. A young artist named Michael Den Beste recently took it upon himself to use his considerable photochopping skills and place Calvin and Hobbes in real life locations. The results are gorgeous. Unfortunately, due to the aforementioned integrity Calvin and Hobbes is held with, the artwork has been pulled from Michael’s tumblr page. If you’re lucky though, you may catch a glimpse here or there.
P.S. Remember, Calvin didn’t pee OR pray in the comic strip, and a well-timed middle finger is a perfectly valid response to him being co-opted into doing either of those things on the back of somebody’s truck.

In a bit of fiction I’m creating right this moment as I type, visual artist Supralude looked out over Brooklyn while listening to some tunes and imagined his own personal, massive equalizer. While the rest of us would let this fantasy pass us by the moment our legally obtained glaucoma medicine left our system, Supralude decided to do something about it. The song he chose was 21 Ghosts by an up-and-coming indie band (I think those guys that scored The Social Network are in it?), and this is what he created: That Night In Williamsburg.

There’s a long history of creative-types setting amazing, forgotten audio to funny, charming animation online. Our personal favorite is probably ‘Doc Ellis & The LSD No-No,’ but there’s stiff competition. Jesse Throne’s Put This On has a submission worth featuring because 1) it’s hilarious and 2) it was just Presidents’ Day on Monday.
In ‘LBJ Buys Pants,’ president 36, Lyndon B. Johnson purchases a pair of pants over the phone. He has surprisingly exact specifications, some of which refer to a wire fence as well as his nuts and bunghole. Thank heavens he decided to record his phone calls. Thank heavens Put This On decided to animate.

Sometimes the first thing I do when someone sends me a video is open it and figure out its length. We’re all caught up in our egocentric ecosystems and it can be difficult to consume, reflect, and comment on everything that’s being shared. The best we can do is file something away and do our best to get to it.
My man Maneesh shared this incredible stop motion wall-painted animation of evolution with me many weeks ago while I was at work. In accordance with that “do the best you can” policy, I emailed it to myself. I only recently got around to watching it and it was well worth the — yes, I know — ten minute investment. Promise.
