Look! Up In The Sky! It’s Super Nintendo!
August 29th, 2011
Last week marked the 20th anniversary of the release of Super Nintendo, the Goodosphere’s all-time favourite entertainment console. Shall we finally let go of this gaming titan and let it pass gently into the night? Heck no! This generation is a nostalgic one, and thanks to said nostalgia most of our childhood games are still available to play to this day.
What were the games you couldn’t put down? Super Mario Kart rocked the Rameswaram household with a precisely aimed green shell. NHL ’95? You’d better believe that got play for years after the title date. Mortal Kombat? FINISHed it! Contra III? Nearly 20 years old itself, and someday… SOMEDAY… just maybe Sean and I will beat that damn thing. And then there’s the ultimate, Super Mario World, which doesn’t even need to be played for nostalgia’s sake — it’s still just as immersive and fun as the day it came out.
Cheers, SNES. Thanks for the memories. Paul Rudd agrees!
